Periods in the Army

Once Upon A Time..

I talk a lot about fashion, shopping, and whatever else crosses my mind on here. But did you know that I am also in the Army? In fact, I have been for almost 9 years! As a woman, being in the military can be a unique experience. There are times where I absolutely adore it. But then of course there are other times where I wonder what drugs I was smoking to say yes (totally kidding BTW.)

Some of my best memories are going on missions with my closest friends, traveling, and feeling like I am really doing something for this country. But with the good comes the bad. I can remember on several occasions being home sick, scared, and lonely. Or lets be honest, getting my period while I’m in a field training! Try explain to a male Drill Sergeant that you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of training because you have to change your tampon. Its awful!

Imagine this scenario:

You’re in the middle of a training exercise in the desert for 3 weeks. You take showers out of a tent, your bathroom is a porta potty and you work for 14 hours a day. Its fine at first, because its your job. But then *BAM* aunt flow comes for a visit. Now what? How are you going to get to the bathroom X amount of times a day? How are you going to change your tampon as much as needed without bleeding through your uniform? What a nightmare right? (I’m speaking from experience here.. And I can confirm it is 100% a nightmare)

But then I met Thinx,

What is Thinx? Thinx is a period proof panty that can hold up to two tampons worth of blood. which is absolutely amazing. Think about it, if I had been able to use Thinx panties during all my training, I would have zero anxiety about bleeding through. I wouldn’t have to worry about making it to the bathroom in the middle of an important mission, because I would have been covered.

Tell me more!

The beauty is that its super easy to take care, its cute, and most importantly it does NOT feel like a diaper. I can personally attest to this. Wearing them doesn’t even feel like a pad, its thin and silky soft. Can you believe I actually feel cute in them too? 😛

So what next?

Ill tell you what! Buy yourself a pair, or three! Thinx actually does this really cool thing where you can ‘build a set.’ Which racially means you buy at least 3 pairs, catered to your flow. That way, Thinx has your back all week long!

So what are you waiting for? Check out Thinx here and start building your very own cycle set now!
